The Role of Management & Supervisors
Our Managers and Supervisory staff are individually and collectively responsible for ensuring that our Health & Safety policy is complied with within their areas of responsibility.
In particular, they are expected to:
- Read and understand the company's safety policy and to ensure that its provisions are being effectively carried out.
- Prevent access by the workforce or other persons to any defective machinery, equipment or structures until the faults have been rectified.
- Ensure that our employees are adequately instructed in the safe operation of equipment and machinery.
- Ensure that our employees take no unnecessary risks in pursuance of their duties and to ensure our disciplinary procedure is in place for offenders.
- Ensure that adequate first-aid facilities are available and adequately maintained.
- Ensure that all accidents are reported in accordance with the provision of this policy.
- Ensure that health and safety awareness is encouraged and maintained within your areas of responsibility, this should be achieved by personal example and through the provision of information, instruction and training and through effective supervision of your staff.
- Arrange the proper maintenance of fire-fighting equipment, regular fire drills and adequate access to fire-fighting services.
- Ensure that any areas of the site to which the general public or visitors may have access, are maintained to ensure their safety.
- Ensure that the Managing Director is made aware of any health or safety related issue which cannot be resolved locally, or if any of their staff are injured or become ill to the extent that the effects of that injury or illness require us to report the details to the enforcing authorities.
